We are starting a series of introductions to the team of NGO «PVDN» with the Head of the Board – a person who keeps the focus 🎯, is responsible for strategy, and unites like-minded people around them.

Presenting to you – Oleksandr Rybalka.

From the first day of the full-scale invasion, he remained in Kherson and began his volunteer activities.

Hospitals with the wounded, orphanages, refugee shelters - he tried to cover everything. 

After moving to Ukrainian-controlled territory, he continued his volunteer work as part of a charitable foundation. 

He participated in restoring Ukrainian symbols in the de-occupied part of the Kherson region. 

During the explosion of the Kakhovka HPP, he actively helped people affected by the flooding. Every day, he contacted volunteers and various organizations, receiving and distributing humanitarian aid that arrived in Kherson. 

"Over three years of volunteer work, I gained valuable experience — both under occupation and in Ukrainian-controlled territory. And I realized: it's time to join forces. So, having gathered like-minded people around me, I created a non-governmental organization — to help not just sporadically, but systematically and for the long term."

The project «Accessible Education for Children of Kherson Region» is implemented within the multi-donor project «Strengthening War-Affected Communities in Ukraine through Local Initiatives (EMPOWER)», funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) jointly with the European Commission's Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) and implemented by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) GmbH.
