Yevhenii's Story
👥 The true strength of our team is people with a big heart and an incredible story of courage. We are sharing the story of Yevhenii's resilience and the values that brought him to the NGO "PVDN".
"Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, I have been actively engaged in volunteer activities. One of the directions is supporting the residents of the Kherson region.
While in occupation, I delivered groceries, passing through numerous enemy checkpoints each time. Despite the threat from the occupiers, I continued to help the civilian population.
I paid special attention to people with diabetes — delivering insulin and test strips. Having this disease myself, I understood very well how vital medicine is for life.
The reasons for leaving the occupation were the exhaustion of my own supply of medicines and the impossibility of continuing to stay in life-threatening conditions. After leaving, I continued my volunteer activities as part of a charitable foundation.
Now I work as part of the team of the NGO 'PVDN', where I continue to implement socially important initiatives in the field of assisting the affected population, community development, and youth policy.
I value real actions, not formalities for the sake of reports, which is exactly why I am here."
The project is implemented within the EMPOWER project, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) jointly with the European Union and implemented by GIZ Ukraine.
